Final Exam

Difference between Shape and Form
Forms are usually referred to 3 dimensional objects while shapes are 2 dimensional. Shapes are basically lines creating length and width; forms are more complex with length, width and height.

Difference between Pattern and Repetition
Repetitions creates pattern. Repetitions can be lines, shapes or forms or anything and by repeating those, pattern is created. Pattern is the composition of repetitions. Different organization of repetitions give different patterns, for example altering the spacing among repetitions.

I believe this is my best work because I demonstrated the top 2 rules of Mr Farley's rule of composition which are (1) get closer and (2) avoid the middle. The lighting in the picture is fine and the subject is in focus. One thing to improve is to make the subject stands out more by framing it. I learnt that great photos are not taken but created, editing plays a key role in producing great photos and it does make a difference.

Student Website Review

From first period Vina Kong's Weebly, her best shot would be the one with green lockers. She managed the rules of composition and principles of design very well. She avoided capturing the opened locker which is the subject in the center. The light source creating shadows framed the subject. The shadows also created lines and movements.

From third period, I picked Katherine Lin's Weebly. I really like her album "Changing the perspective". Every picture in it is very creative and nicely-captured but the one I like the most is the photo with a guy holding a red bicycle. The subject is deliberately placed in the middle. It effectively draws attention with the bright colors.
